    NCAA CLEARINGHOUSE INFORMATION

The following information is designed to assist the college-bound student who is interested in participating in athletics at the college level.
The NCAA, or National Collegiate Athletic Association, serves as the athletics governing body for more than 1300 colleges, universities, conferences and organizations. The NCAA is committed to the student-athlete and to governing competition in a fair, safe, inclusive and sportsmanlike manner. Their membership includes Division I, II and III member schools and one of the differences among the three divisions is that colleges and universities in Division I and II may offer athletic scholarships, while Division III members may not.
All prospective student-athletes planning on entering a collegiate institution and desiring to play NCAA Division I or II intercollegiate athletics including “walk-ons” must register with NCAA Eligibility Center at: www.eligibilitycenter.org. The NCAA Eligibility Center certifies the academic and amateur credentials of all college-bound student-athletes who wish to compete in NCAA Division I or II athletics. Students should register at the end of the junior year.

You will also need to fill out a “ Request for Transcript ” card in Room 104 at the end of your junior year or the beginning of your senior year. All transcripts will be mailed to the Eligibility Center twice: once in late September or early October and a final transcript upon graduation.
If you would like general information, please visit their home page at www.ncaa.org and click on “Prospective Student-Athletes,” which will link you to the necessary information. As a prospective student-athlete at a Division I or II institution, you have certain academic requirements that must be met before you may participate. Information concerning who needs to register with the Eligibility Center and what documents should be submitted can be found in The Guide for College-Bound Student-Athletes, which can be purchased from their website here. Playing sports for an NCAA school is not the only option. Students can explore additional opportunities through the National Intercollegiate Athletics Association (NAIA) and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) .
