It’s Never Been Easier to Become a Teaching Assistant!
Due to the challenging labor market, the Illinois State Board of Education has issued a Short Term Approval for Paraprofessionals, effective August 18, 2022. This license will allow anyone with a high school diploma or its equivalent to work as a Teaching Assistant in Illinois public schools. The license is valid for 3 years, during which applicants must fulfill the requirements for the full license*. Applications for the short-term paraprofessional license may be submitted starting August 18, 2022. Candidates interested in working for the Lake Forest School Districts 67 and 115 should immediately apply for the licensure** and submit an application. Candidates should expect their license to be processed within approximately two weeks.
*Once the short term license has been obtained, paraprofessionals will have until 2025 obtain an Associates degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution of higher education OR 60 semester hours of college credit. Those without college coursework must, by 2025, pass the ETS Para Pro Assessment with a score of 460 or higher OR Pass the applicable ACT Work Key Assessment with the following scores Applied Mathematics – 4,
Reading for Information/Workplace Documents – 4.
**To apply for the Short-Term Paraprofessional license, navigate to ISBE’s ELIS login page and create an account. Once on the platform, apply for the license, and send your high school diploma or GED to licensureforms@isbe.net. If you have received a tentative employment offer from D67 or D115, contact the Human Resources Department to assist with the approval of your license.

- Clerical/Secretarial Substitute Positions: Clerical substitutes serve as temporary, replacement employees when a regular employees is absent. Computer, telephone, and other office equipment skills are necessary. If you are interested in substituting for clerical / secretarial positions, please complete the online application process.

Dental Insurance
The Districts 115 and 67 dental insurance plans are self-funded and administered by PBA. The plan pays for 100% of preventative exams, X-rays, and cleanings every 6 months.

Health Insurance
Districts 115 and 67 health insurance is through Northern Illinois Health Insurance Program (NIHIP). Each district has several different plan options to choose from.- Transparency in Coverage - Machine Readable Files

Districts 115 and 67 both provide a group term life insurance policy at no cost to you

Parental Leave
Employees may request an unpaid leave of absence in the event of natural childbirth or the adoption of a child. Leaves are approved by the Board of Education.
