When tier 2 interventions aren't meeting a student's needs, tier 3 interventions may be warranted. Approximately 5% of the student body may require tier 3 interventions. Tier 3 interventions typically involve frequent check-ins, specific behavioral or academic planning and may include a social contract signed by the student and their guardians.

Tier 3 interventions are often highly individualized and require the collaboration of multiple staff members.  The goal of all tier 3 interventions is to guide students to a point of academic and emotional stability and independence.  All tier 3 interventions are organized by a student's core team. Request support by filling out the student support request form.

Tier 3 Supports
Executive Function Wrap-Around
Executive Function Wrap-Around is offered to students who require maximum interventions to get them back on track. Students participating in EF Wrap-Around check in before school, visit the EF room during their study halls, and check out at the end of the day. An email is sent home detailing the student’s homework. Parents may send a return email confirming the homework has been completed.

Executive Function Wrap-Around may include academic or behavioral contracts and involve several stakeholders and support staff.

For more information on Executive Function Wrap-Around, or any other tier 3 supports, complete a student support request , or contact the MTSS/RTI coordinator, David Hain.

Strategic Reading 1

Students recommended for this course have identified decoding gaps that will be targeted specifically through a research-based intervention program.  Consultation and data collection through the reading specialist, psychologists or other individuals will guide placement decisions for this course. This is a year-long course.

This general ed credit intervention course provides identified students with intensive, targeted word learning and reading and spelling  instruction in order for them to be more successful readers and writers in their academic courses. Students will focus on word recognition and decoding skills, vocabulary expansion, text comprehension, reading fluency, and spelling skills through whole class, small group, and individual instruction. Students will learn skills to help them make sense of multisyllabic academic vocabulary words in texts that vary in terms of genre and complexity.  Participants will show greater flexibility with regard to making sense of unfamiliar words and using those words in speaking and writing as well as increasing confidence with reading comprehension strategies. Those who enroll in the course will engage in independent or book club reading with books that will help build decoding, fluency, spelling, and comprehension skills.

Academic/Behavioral Support Plan
An academic or behavioral support plan is designed to address the needs of specific students.  Support plans may involve intervention layering, behavioral or academic contracts, and the collaboration of many stakeholders.

Tier 3 academic and behavioral plans are highly individualized based on the needs of specific students.  Plans may cover topics as wide-ranging as in-class outbursts, social interactions, attendance, or academics.  All Academic/Behavioral support plans are organized and implemented by a student's core team.
